Harrow Open Studios Exhibition June 2025
Special Exhibitions Room
The Special Exhibitions Room is the Manor House’s dedicated temporary exhibition space, located on the ground floor. It includes secure display cases and flexible exhibition areas for objects, images and interpretation.
This space is open to individuals, community groups and organisations and is developed through co-curation with the museum team. We work collaboratively with exhibitors to plan, research and develop exhibitions, and can support with collections access, object selection, exhibition design and text writing.
Exhibitions should tell a story connected to Harrow — whether about a person, group, event, place or community. Your exhibition should share a clear story, but it is your story to tell.
The room is equipped with CCTV and highly secure display cases, making it suitable for fragile or valuable objects, including items loaned from other museums and galleries.

We welcome proposals from local individuals and community organisations. Please contact the museum team to find out more about exhibiting in this space.

Our Stories: Exploring Equality in Harrow
The Community Cupboard shares stories from Harrow’s communities, highlighting the diversity of experiences that make up life in the borough. Inspired by the Equality Act 2010, this space explores themes connected to protected characteristics, including age, race, gender, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, and more. Displays change regularly throughout the year, reflecting community stories, anniversaries and celebrations.
Located in the Parlour Room of the Manor House, this space is the first area visitors see when they arrive. The room is monitored by either a volunteer or staff member when we are open to the public. Any objects or items placed on the shelves will not be as secure as our locked spaces available in other exhibition areas. We encourage those who display an exhibition here to print copies of images or photograph objects/items rather than having them physically present. We can accept physical items in this space, but we cannot guarantee protection from any damage or theft.
Interested in sharing your story?
We welcome community groups and individuals who would like to display material here. As the shelves are open displays, we encourage the use of copies, photographs or reproductions rather than original objects. Please contact the museum team to find out more.

Our Stories: Discovering our Community
At Headstone Manor & Museum, we use our collections to share the stories of the people and places that make up Harrow. Through our volunteers, community groups, organisations and local residents, we continue to collect and share stories that connect Harrow’s past with its present.
This display space in the Visitor Centre offers an opportunity for individuals and groups to share a story connected to Harrow, using museum collections, their own material, or a combination of both.
The display case is secure and monitored, allowing a wide range of objects and materials to be exhibited.
