Tuesday Talk Bharatanatyam - Tradition in Motion
Details
This talk explores Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form known for its strong lines, rhythmic precision and expressive storytelling. Rooted in South Indian temple traditions, learn how an ancient artform continues to speak to the present.
Founded in Harrow in 1991 by Nina Rajarani MBE, Srishti has spent over 35 years nurturing dancers, connecting communities to their cultural roots, and developing work that bridges classical Bharatanatyam with contemporary and modern themes. Through striking images and video, this talk traces that journey, reflecting on personal and collective histories, and sharing what Srishti is creating now.
This talk is part of the Stories of Harrow programme preserving the heritage of underrepresented communities in Harrow. Stories of Harrow is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and managed by Harrow Giving in partnership with Headstone Manor and Museum. Thanks to National Lottery Players.
