Translucent
22nd October – 2nd February
Growing up in Harrow, Claire Mc Dermott connects Headstone Manor and Museum with memories of Whitefriars Glass. Her research and microscopic studies of the plumes of an Asteraceae seedhead gave her further inspiration as they too resemble glass. Putting sustainability first as an environmentalist she hopes to encourage people to view glass as an alternative to plastic by combining its magical qualities of transparency, reflection and clarity of colour; luring us into a greener world. Claire’s botanical sculpture and photographs repurposes and refashions glass to create a solo exhibition based on the Sculptural Environment of Translucent Boundaries.
