Pinner Chalk Mines
Details
Following the recent exhibition by the Harrow & Hillingdon Geological Society on local geology, this small display uncovers the story of the Pinner chalk mines and the people connected to them. Chalk extraction took place here until the 1880s, providing materials for building and agriculture across the area. Long after mining ended, the mines became a source of intrigue, inspiring local stories and exploration. Closed to the public around a century later, the mines remain an important reminder of the area’s industrial past and the communities shaped by it.
