Learning Uniform Groups
We offer occasional taught sessions to uniform groups on a case-by-case basis. Session offerings can be found on the learning pages for each key stage. Please fill out an Enquiry Form here, to confirm availability.
Additionally, our free self-guided museum visits can provide valuable information towards completing a variety of badges! See below for activity ideas for both Scouts and Guides. For groups of more than 10, we ask that you complete a Self Guided Visit Form.

Girl Guides at Headstone Manor and Museum
Below we have listed some ideas for how your Girl Guide group can earn badges at the Manor.
- Rainbows: Great Outdoors Interest Badge - Explore the museum gardens, moat, and the park and document the nature and wildlife you see!
- Brownies: Local History Interest Badge - Learn all about Harrow from the Stone Age to present day with a visit to the museum! Get inspired by the people who have lived here before and create something of your own connected to our local history.
- Guides: Photography Interest Badge - Come photograph the historical buildings of Headstone Manor & Museum as well as the nature it is surrounded by. Share your work with others!
- Rangers: Wanderer Interest Badge - Come follow our free Wellbeing Wander around the Manor House. Use your senses to find peace and grounding while on your journey. What did you find useful from these grounding exercises?
Scouts at Headstone Manor and Museum
Below we have listed some ideas for how your Scout group can earn badges at the Manor.
- Squirrels: Explore Outdoors Activity Badge - Explore some different environments, use a compass to see which direction you’re going, and keep track of all the interesting things you see and hear. Visit the gardens and moat at Headstone Manor & Museum and record the different animals and plants you see on your way!
- Cubs: Local Knowledge Activity Badge - Find out about a famous person who lived in or near your area. Or you could learn about a famous building, monument, earthworks or other place of historical interest and visit it. The Manor House at Headstone has stood here since 1310! Walk through the house and discover the many changes which have taken place over the centuries at Headstone and Harrow. Meeting Roman Potters, Medieval Archbishops and Victorian Commuters as well as famous names of Harrow like Mary Shelley!
- Beavers: History Comes Alive Blanket Badge - Draw a map of your area. Look at the historical maps on the walls of our Local History Room - can you find where the building your pack meets now would be? Take a look at the Blitz map to see how else Harrow has changed over time. Be inspired by these maps to draw your own map of your local area!
- Scouts: Local Knowledge Activity Badge - Study an aspect of national history, local history or family heritage. Exhibit or present the results to other people. The Manor House at Headstone has stood here since 1310! Walk through the house and discover the many changes which have taken place over the centuries at Headstone and Harrow. Find a particular period of local history to spend time learning about!
- Explorers: International Women’s Day Blanket Badge - Celebrate or learn about inspirational women. Here at Headstone Manor & Museum we have information on Mrs. Beeton (one of the first female commuters to London) as well as Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein) use this visit to inspire further research into the women who shaped Harrow’s history.
