We are delighted to announce that Headstone Manor & Museum has been awarded £419,420 in funding from the Arts Council England’s Museum Renewal Fund, supporting our goal in preserving Harrow’s heritage provision. This funding will enable the museum to address rising operational costs and a decline in commercial income, ensuring the continued delivery of a free, high quality, and accessible experience to Harrow’s diverse communities.

The grant will support:

  • Staffing and operational resilience amid increased costs and reduced income.
  • Expanded commercial programming, including candlelight concerts, outdoor cinema and theatre, and a festive illuminated trail.
  • A feasibility study into opportunities to further support the museum.
  • Development of a new five-year business plan to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
  • Website upgrades to improve digital access to exhibitions, collections, and event bookings.

Councillor Janet Mote, Cabinet Member for Community & Culture said:
“This funding from the Arts Council is brilliant news for us – especially in Harrow’s Jubilee year! It means we can continue to showcase Harrow’s heritage to all of our residents – and offer more opportunities to experience the Borough’s Arts and Culture. A big thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this successful bid.”

The funding period runs from August 2025 to January 2026, during which the museum will trial new income streams, improve collections care, and enhance its digital infrastructure. The project also supports the museum’s goal of becoming financially self-sustaining.

The museum’s award is part of a national announcement by Arts Council England, celebrating successful applicants to the Museum Renewal Fund.
