By Jessica (Work Experience Student at Headstone Manor)

My name is Jessica, and I am a year 13 student at Saint Dominic’s Sixth Form College. I am studying BTEC Business, however, I am keen study Art history as well as learning about Archives and different eras in time. My school as well as my past work experience at Harrow Art Centre, which is sister to Headstone Manor, had led me to do this work experience learning more about the past and how art organisations work. Every day was a wonderful and new experience with many activities and things to learn; the most exhilarating part has to be the collections and auditing for myself as even learning the basic training of how to handle pieces as well as walking through the many doors and being able to see as well as touch so much past artifacts is amazing from toys to pottery to even paintings. I enjoyed being able to research about items and writing about them. I also enjoyed going to the Manor House and being able to go to rooms where each were representative of the Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian and etc. eras and looking at Harrow in different eras. Overall, my work experience has been a pleasant and exciting experience.
