Tuesday Talk In Search of Father Christmas

We all know Father Christmas, don’t we? Maybe we don’t know him as well as we think as the cheery gift-giver of today is both very ancient and relatively modern, he is both fictional and real and is born from many legends, many traditions and many individuals. Father Christmas is composed of controversies and intrigues. Let’s go in search of this fascinating figure!

About the Speaker:

Nick Dobson used to be a Librarian so he’s very boring!  He was Principal Librarian for Redbridge, but since 2012 he has earned a meagre living by doing talks on a wide range of subjects.  Nick is a former National Fuchsia Champion which his wife thinks is even more boring and he has performed in semi-professional productions of light opera throughout London and the south east.  Nick’s family is related by marriage to Charles Dickens, but it is a very tenuous link, so that’s boring too!  You did ask!
