Tuesday Talk The History of Roman Harrow

Join us on a journey through the landmarks of Roman Harrow. Meet the potters of Sulloniacae and spend the night at the roadside Mutatio (service station), which may have once stood upon Brockley-Hill. See the artistry of the settlement’s productive labours and the reach of their wares – which have been found as far North as the famous Hadrian’s Wall. In this accompanying exhibition talk, we will explore the Roman history of Harrow and consider what it meant to be Romano-British, during one of the most evocative periods of British history.

About the Speaker:

Louis is Head of Classics at St. Dominic's Sixth Form College and is a Romanist at heart. He has a background in the Archaeology and Museum sectors, and is currently completing a second Heritage Lottery Funded research excavation, upon the grounds of the College itself. Louis is also a knowledgeable tour guide, with extensive  experience guiding groups around Rome, Ostia Antica, Pompeii & Herculamneum.
