Tuesday Talk: What the Parlour Maid Knew

Tuesday 1st August, 2pm

Book Now

If your own Tardis could take you back to the days of Victorian Parlour Maids, you would learn about the condiment that’s pretty hot stuff. You could spread the word about which butter’s brand name was inspired by a tattoo. How did Imperial Leather and Bristol Cream get their names? Do you know what Dorothy Perkins has in common with Ted Baker and Sara Lee and what has W H Smith got to do with HMS Pinafore? The Parlour Maid knew all this and so much more and after this talk, so will you.

About the Speaker:
Judy Karbritz is Harrow’s Community Poet and writes regular articles for the Harrow Times. She gives talks on a large range of subjects locally and on cruise ships. She runs a support group for people with mental health disorders.

This talk is presented with funding support from Learn Harrow. You will be required to register with Learn Harrow to take part in this workshop – instructions will follow in a separate email. It is really important you register as future funding for similar events depends on it.
