ABOUT OUR LOAN BOXES
Fancy handling Roman pottery made by Harrow’s first residents or ducking for cover in a genuine WWII helmet?
Our Loans Box Service provides teachers with the opportunity to develop their teaching across the curriculum with a wide range of historical artefacts, replica objects and useful resources. They inspire a range of classroom activities to help you deliver desired learning outcomes with enjoyment and fun!
The boxes cover a wide range of topics including nine new boxes created especially with Harrow’s history in mind. These boxes are crammed full of information, images and objects related to the Harrow area.

COST
The cost per half term is £35. There is a £20 per item breakage charge.
HOW TO BOOK
We are now taking bookings for Autumn 2024
Please enquire about availability by completing the online enquiry form. Once we have confirmed your date and sent you a booking confirmation form, we will invoice you directly through Harrow Council. Please double check your dates because you may not be able to change them once the booking has been confirmed and you will still be charged.
Please note: Boxes must be ordered before term starts for guaranteed availability at the start of term. Boxes are available for pick up to your school during the first week of term and drop off during the last week of term.
TEACHER’S PACK
All loan boxes come with a teacher’s pack. This includes background historical information about each object, ready to use resources and ideas for the use of the box in the classroom across both the entire curriculum and age range.
COLLECTION / RETURN
The boxes are loaned out for Half Terms and available with set collection and return dates. Collection is available during the first week of Half Term; Return is on the last week. Charges will apply if the Loan Boxes are returned late. Collection is from the Museum’s office, which you can find here.
