Louvina:
I’m Louvina, a student at St Gregory’s sixth form. I study Physics, Maths, Further Maths, and Art, but my interest in history, particularly the history of engineering, encouraged me to do my work experience at Headstone Manor. I chose a Victorian flat iron, or ‘sadiron’ for my object handling. It was an innovative work of engineering for its time, and I enjoyed researching and learning about its links to the present day and to Harrow. I also enjoyed working with the other teams in the museum, particularly the Events and Marketing teams, as it gave me an insight into the inner workings and planning behind the community-aimed projects that the team at HMM run. Overall, it was a positive and illuminating experience.
